Volkswagen has just revealed a new electric SUV named the ID. ERA 5X. This information first surfaced from filing documents with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), ahead of VW’s official image release.
Key highlights to know:
• First model on SAIC VW’s new CMP platform
• Co-developed with Chinese EV brand XPeng
• 155 kW (~205 hp) motor and LFP battery from CATL
• Features LiDAR and the “Xingyun” L2++ driver assistance system
• Body length of 4,560 mm, similar in size to the Mazda CX-5 — price and range not yet announced
